Is Coating Lubricant Water-Resistant? A Technical Perspective

This is not merely a theoretical curiosity-it is a critical performance parameter that directly affects production efficiency, product quality, and end-use durability. What Are Coating Lubricants?

Coating lubricants are specialized chemical additives used in the paper coating process to improve the runnability of coated board as it travels through high-speed paper machines and contacts various surfaces such as rollers, dryers, and calendar stacks. By reducing friction and minimizing surface wear, these lubricants help prevent scratches, picking, and other coating defects. Water Resistance: Not a One-Size-Fits-All Answer

1. Formulation Determines Resistance
